Prune
Prune is the second runner up for second annual Art and Aging Exhibition at the Center for Healthy Aging at Colorado State University. The magazine unfolds twice revealing the poster on the back. The information came from personal interviews with a research professional and an older friend. I geared my main idea to intergenerational relationships, and their benefits for healthy aging. Pruning is a way to nourish healthy relationships as one may with a flower in a garden, while sharing a duality with the word’s association to wrinkles and age. The floral imagery is connected to the classic china tea sets that older generations often value, recognizing tea to be a communal activity passed through generations. With such imagery, this poster displays a heart that blooms from healthy friendships such as these. Each flower was drawn in Adobe Photoshop and merged into Illustrator.
